Under warm clear skies, race #3 of the 2022 All Star Racing Association was completed at New England Dragway. Forty-three dedicated class racers showed up to do battle in the heat. Round 3 began with Bob Broadbent’s 10.06 (10.03) from his A/S ’69 Camaro defeating Dean Ribeiro’s break-out 10.75 (10.76) from his C/SA ’97 Camaro. John Gray’s 10.03 (9.93 dial) from his A/SA ’69 Camaro would defeat Randy Broadbent’s 12.40. Todd Bednaz’s 10.69 (10.67) from his D/S ’68 Camaro would get by George Mirza’s 10.96 (10.91) from his ’71 Duster 340. Pete Stickles drive his newly acquired ’82 Malibu N/SA Wagon with a dead-on 12.53 to upend recent New England Dragway National Event Champion Eric Merryfield’s GT/TD ’92 Dakota’s 10.47 breakout (10.49 dial). Paul Sutherland’s 10.35 (10.33) from his SS/IA ’66 Nova Wagon defeated Marc LaBrecque’s 10.17 (10.15) from his GT/TC 2000 S-10. Christian Fillipone had the bye in his F/SA ’69 Camaro.
In the quarterfinals, Fillipone faced off with Bednaz and Todd took the win 10.72 (10.66) to a breakout 11.43 (11.44). In a battle of ’69 Big Block Camaros, Bob Broadbent’s 10.12 defeated John Gray’s 10.48. An all wagon matchup had Stickles running 12.54 (12.53) to defeat Sutherland’s 10.44 (10.34). Semifinals saw a battle of big block 1st gen stick Camaros, this time seeing Broadbent’s dial matching 10.03 from his A/S entry getting by Bednaz’s 10.64 breakout (10.65) from his D/S entry. Pete Stickles had the bye to the final to face off against Broadbent. Stickles would emerge the winner with a 0.009 initiated 12.57 (12.51) to Broadbent’s 10.018 breakout on a 10.02 dial.
