The Gutters by Design All Star Shoot-Out took place at Lebanon Valley Dragway on Saturday, September 20th. This race consists of the top 16 points earners after five of six races, competing in four rounds for a chance to become the 2025 Gutters by Design All Star Shoot-Out Champion.
With the elimination ladder set based on points standing, racers would use their qualifying runs to prepare. Jumping to round two, eight racers remained. First pair saw the high flying 70’ Chevelle of Nic Barsamian against Rich Preiser in his 67’ Mustang. Barsamian with a .044 starting line advantage allowed him to get there first by .018, to run 10.593 (10.57) to Preiser’s breakout 10.177 (10.18). Next up was D.J. Pires in the Firebird against Ethan Sutherland in his 81’ Malibu. Ethan with a .003 reaction time gave him the room to take finish line by .022, advancing with his 11.012 (10.99) to Pires’ getting-behind, dead-on 11.857 (11.85). The next round two matchup was between Brady Jezewski in Brad Rose’s 67’ Camaro against Bob Broadbent in his stick shift 69’ Camaro. Jezewski left first with a .034 reaction time before Broadbent would turn it red, advancing Jezewski into round three. The final pair of this round was between T.J. Boucher in his 87’ Camaro and Tim gray in Eric Merryfield’s Chevy II. T.J. had the .1 second handicap head start, where his -.001 redlight gave Gray the automatic go-ahead into round three.
Third round of the Shoot-Out saw a Stock Eliminator heads-up race, where Brady Jezewski and Tim Gray would compete in F/SA for a chance at a final-round appearance. Gray turned it red -.001 to give the win to Jezewski. Jezewski ran 10.839 (1.011 under) to Gray’s 11.051 (.799 under). The second and final pair of round three was between Ethan Sutherland and Nic Barsamian. With two great reaction times, Sutherland had a small .003 advantage. At the finish line, Sutherland crossed first by only .002 to run 11.003 (10.98) to Barsamian’s 10.582 (10.56) in an incredibly close race.

Both Brady Jezewski and Ethan Sutherland fought their way through the 16-car field to land themselves in the final round of the Gutters by Design Shoot-Out. Sutherland’s 10.98 dial-in would have a head start against Jezewski’s 10.83. Sutherland cut an .031 light, putting him .009 behind the .022 of Brady. Brady got to the finish line first by .010, but broke out by just a mere .001 to run 10.829 (10.83) to Sutherland’s victorious dead-on zero 10.980 (10.98).

Between all six of Ethan’s runs (two qualifiers and four eliminations), his average reaction time was .013. This year’s All Start Shoot-Out saw heads-up matchups, tight reaction times, and even tighter finish line margins. Congratulations to Ethan and the entire Sutherland crew on a well-earned, and hard-fought win!
