Cabral Conquers All Star Field

On another nice sunny day, All Star Race #5 was held at New England Dragway. Sixty dedicated class racers showed up to do battle. Third round began with Tim Stickles utilizing a 12.64 (12.63 dial) to dispatch Bob Letellier’s 9.46 (9.43) effort from his FS/C 2015 COPO Camaro. Frank Tantillo’s dial matching 10.57 from his SS/KA ’94 Camaro triumphed over a breaking Pat Aubin’s GT/LA ’90 Camaro. Eric Cabral’s 0.001 initiated 11.27 (11.25) from is ’69 G/SA Nova defeated Henry Specht’s 10.39 (10.38) pass from his ’69 B/SA Camaro. Chris Butcher’s 10.96 (10.89) in his ’83 Camaro H/SA defeated Dean Cook II’s breakout 11.28 (11.30) from his E/SA ’71 Mustang. Tony Fillipone’s 9.92 (9.91) from his SS/H ’66 Nova held off John Gray’s 9.87 (9.86) from his AA/SA ’69 Camaro. George Mirza’s dead-on 10.99 from his D/SA ’71 Duster defeated Dean Cook’s 10.89 (10.90) break-out from his D/S ’71 Mustang. TJ Boucher’s right on 11.55 from is I/SA ’87 Camaro defeated Barry Parker’s red-lighting 10.17 (10.11). Jim Whitehead sped to a 10.83 on the bye.


Whitehead would open the quarterfinals against Stickles and would catch the wagon in a double break-out affair 10.81 (10.83) to 12.59 (12.62). Cabral would use a 11.22 (11.20) to defeat Tantillo’s 10.57 (10.59) break-out pass. Fillipone used a 9.91 (9.89) to get past Chris Butcher’s 10.90 (10.89). Mirza’s 11.08 (10.98) was sufficient to get past TJ Boucher’s 11.55 to set the matchups in the semi-final round.


Fillipone would emerge victorious over Mirza in a double breakout affair 9.88 (9.89) to 10.96 (10.98). The other semi-final pairing pitted Whitehead’s C/SA ’98 Camaro against the Nova of Cabral. In yet another breakout pair, Cabral would advance to the final 11.21 (11.22) to 10.80 (10.81), a 0.001 margin of victory. The final had Cabral and Fillipone battling for the winning purse. Cabral’s 11.27 (11.21) emerged victorious over Fillipone’s troubled 10.21 (9.87).
