Boucher Continues winning ways in All-Star Competition

By Ernie Raschke, 6/25/2022

On Day 2 of the opening weekend, forty-nine dedicated racers were on the final qualifying sheet. The prior day’s racing action was not completed in full due to some miscellaneous delays, making this the first race completed in the 2022 season. Quarterfinal action began with Pat Aubin’s GT/LA ’90 Camaro running a 10.30 (10.28 dial) to defeat Dave Casey’s break-out 10.13 (10.16 dial) from his A/S ’69 427 Corvette. Todd Bednaz used a dial matching 10.70 from his D/S ’68 Camaro to defeat a red lighting Jerry Hatch who ran 9.75 in his SS/HA ’70 Challenger. Tom Boucher’s Dial Matching 9.73 would take the measure of Jeff Roell’s ’67 Fairlane which broke-out 11.02 (11.07 dial). Don Pires had the bye.

In the semis, Pires would run right on the dial with an 11.39 to defeat Aubin with a 10.30. Boucher defeated Bednaz in a double breakout affair 9.69 (9.72 dial) to 10.64 (10.69 dial). In the final it was Tom Boucher’s 0.002 initiated 9.70 (9.68 dial) over Pire’s 11.38 (11.34 dial)
